HomeLedger Terms of Use

Using HomeLedger

HomeLedger helps you record and understand personal and household finances. It does not connect to your bank or provide financial, tax or investment advice. You are responsible for the accuracy of entries, permissions you grant and exported reports. Use the service lawfully and do not access someone else’s account or records without permission.

Free and Pro

Google sign-in is required to use Free or Pro. Each account has its own local ledger; signing out removes access to it until that same account signs in again on the phone. Signing in does not by itself back up or sync personal entries between phones. You can transfer records between accounts by exporting and importing a file. Uninstalling the app or losing the phone can remove local records unless you retain a backup. From version 1.15, the free version includes local expense and income tracking, accounts, categories, receipt attachments, basic week/month/year insights and data export/import. Pro includes financial-year and custom-date filters, PDF/Excel reports, budgets, scheduled payments, entry and bill reminders, private Drive backup and cloud household sharing. Existing saved entries, budgets and schedules are retained when Pro expires; creating or changing plans and automatic posting require active personal Pro. Personal data export/import remains available without a paid plan. The household owner’s Pro plan covers shared access for invited members; each member needs their own Pro for personal Drive backup. Existing shared records remain viewable and exportable if the owner’s Pro expires; new shared changes require an active owner plan. Offline records and free tools remain available.

Subscriptions

India launch pricing is INR 49 per month or INR 499 per year. Monthly and yearly plans renew at the same price unless a future price change is disclosed through Google Play. Lifetime Pro is no longer offered for new purchases or upgrades. Existing valid Lifetime purchases and previously granted lifetime access remain valid while HomeLedger operates and can still be restored. Refunded or revoked purchases no longer grant paid access. Other countries use prices and currencies shown by Google Play. Google Play shows the payable amount, billing period and any applicable taxes before purchase. A subscription automatically renews until cancelled. Cancel through Google Play before the renewal date. Uninstalling the app, leaving a household or deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription. Refunds are handled through Google Play and applicable law. Restore purchases using the Google Play account used to buy and the HomeLedger Google account linked at purchase. Do not buy a second plan while one is active; manage the existing subscription in Google Play.

One-month subscription trial

An eligible monthly or yearly subscription includes one month of Pro at no subscription charge, only after you confirm that subscription in Google Play. Signing in alone does not start a trial. Google Play determines eligibility and requires a valid payment method. After the trial, the selected plan automatically charges its displayed recurring price unless cancelled in Google Play before the trial ends. India launch prices are INR 49 per month or INR 499 per year. Existing Lifetime access is separate from subscription trials and does not require another purchase. Checkout shows local pricing and dates before confirmation. Previously granted welcome trials keep their original end date and do not automatically convert into subscriptions. Your personal ledger remains free.

Changing plans

Use Pro → Your Pro access → Upgrade plan. A monthly-to-yearly change replaces the existing Google Play subscription, charges the yearly price at checkout, and carries over remaining value according to Google Play. Check the final amount and renewal date before confirming. Upgrades do not include another trial. New Lifetime upgrades are no longer offered. Previously completed Lifetime upgrades and their purchase restoration remain supported. Earlier subscription payments are not automatically refunded. Your financial records, household and backups are retained when changing plans.

Lifetime Pro and complimentary codes

An authorised complimentary code can be claimed once for the signed-in HomeLedger Google account. A lifetime grant has no scheduled subscription expiry or recurring charge and remains valid while HomeLedger operates and the account complies with these terms. It is not a promise that the service will operate forever. Codes cannot be resold or shared after redemption. Redeeming a code does not cancel an existing paid plan; cancel that plan separately if you no longer need it. Deleting the account removes its lifetime entitlement and does not make the code reusable.

Household responsibilities

A household supports up to five people, including its owner. Existing larger households retain their current members, but cannot add members until below this limit. Only invite people you trust. Editors can change shared records; viewers can read them. Owners manage membership and permissions. Removing a member or leaving a home ends future sharing. Each departing member receives private saved copies of past entries, including historical names. Members may delete their own saved entries without changing anyone else’s copy. Household totals show the person who recorded an entry; they do not calculate debts or settlement obligations. Deleting a household ends all memberships and invitations while preserving past entries in each member’s private archive. No new activity is added to a former member’s archive. Previously exported or locally held copies cannot be recalled. Owners should export or coordinate with their family before deleting their account, as that also deletes their household. Shared history in other households is anonymised when an account is deleted.

Backups, reminders and availability

Keep a separate export of important records. Reminder delivery and background backups depend on Android permissions, connectivity, battery settings and the device clock. These features cannot be relied on as the only way to meet a payment deadline. Currency selection changes the display of all entries and accounts without changing their numeric value or applying an exchange rate. Original saved precision is retained; currencies with fewer decimal places may round the display. Shared records keep their household storage currency so one person’s display preference does not rewrite another person’s records. Cloud features require compatible Google services and may be interrupted for maintenance or provider outages.
